3 reasons Man Utd should not expect too much on rookie Amad Diallo

New player Amad Diallo will arrive in Old Trafford at the beginning of 2021

Manchester United officially purchased Amad Diallo from Atalanta in early October, United States waiting to apply for an authorised work permit in order to be able to complete the January transfer (according to MEN). Waiting time has raised hopes for Diallo, considered one of the most talented football players in the world today.

Labor licenses are not certain

United confirmed their deal with Diallo in October and is pending a work permit. Ideally, the license was completed at this point in time. But Diallo’s situation was a complex one and the Calciomercato site explained his history, saying that Diallo was taken to Italy under a different name.

Lack of professional time to play

It is highly likely that when he arrives in Manchester, Diallo will be assigned to the Reds U23 squad to adapt to English football, preventing being confused by the disparity between English and Italian football. Moreover the winger did not have a lot of competitive playing experience either. He didn’t play much for Atalanta in 2020, only making two appearances this season.

This is an issue that leads to a lack of fitness and therefore a lack of professional experience.

Man Utd has a different name to look forward to

Diallo is not the only new signing this season, willing to play the first team of Red Devils. Facundo Pellistri formally arrived in the misty country in October, playing to leave several marks with their U23s.

Pellistri responded very well, having scored 3 goals and contributed 1 assist in six appearances. He shows his potential to rise, and Diallo is the nominee to succeed Pellistri in the U23 squad.

Diallo will be advised to pursue the direction of Pellistri. The Uruguayan will be given preference over the young Italian star, and even though Diallo is better, he will have to prove it first in the reserve squad.
